Only winning 2-1, Blue Waves failed to reach the Asian Champions League final

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal failed to advance to the Asian Champions League final despite winning 2-1 over Al-Ain at their home Kingdom Arena, Riyadh, Wednesday (24/4/20204) early morning WIB.

The club nicknamed Blue Waves was eliminated because they lost 4-5 on aggregate to the United Arab Emirates team. In the first meeting in Abu Dhabi last April 17, the team coached by Jorge Jesus lost 2-4.

In the match at Kingdom Arena, Al-Hilal won thanks to goals scored by Ruben Neves from the penalty spot in the fourth minute and Salem Al-Dawsari (51). A very important Al-Ain goal was scored by Erik in the 12th minute which made it equal.

In the final, Al-Ain will meet the winner of the other semifinal between South Korean club Ulsan HD and Yokohama Marinos from Japan. In the first match at Ulsan Munsu Stadium, the hosts won 1-0 thanks to Lee Dong-gyeong’s goal in the 19th minute.

The second match will be held at Yokohama Marinos’ home ground at Nissan Stadium on Thursday morning WIB.

The Asian Champions League final will be held twice, home and away, namely on 11 and 25 May 2024. The winner of the Eastern Region, namely Ulsan or Yokohama, will host first. The defending champion of this elite Asian championship is the Japanese club Urawa Reds Diamonds, who beat Al-Hilal in the final in 2022.
