ORF journalists mourn the loss of Susanne Newrkla

Long-time foreign editor died

Vienna (OTS) – The ORF journalists are deeply affected by the news of the death of our esteemed colleague at the age of just 55. Susanne Newrkla, a journalist who helped shape foreign reporting for decades, especially in the radio journals on Ö1, Ö3, FM4 and the ORF regional radio stations, has died after a long, serious illness. She was a pillar of the editorial team, including as a correspondent for the ORF in Washington.

She will be remembered as a particularly positive person. She was never cynical or detached, and she believed in the good with all her might. She charmed her colleagues with her laughter and unwavering optimism. She was considered the soul of radio foreign policy, caring and listening to other people’s problems until the very end. We miss her.

Our thoughts and condolences are with Susi’s family, especially her two sons.
