Jesus Christ Superstar celebrated its premiere as a concert performance with a star cast including Oedo Kuipers, Otto Jaus, Marjan Shaki, Mark Seibert and Georgij Makazaria.

Since its premiere in 1971 and especially through the legendary film adaptation in 1973, Jesus Christ Superstar has developed into a recurring musical hit that continues to delight millions of audiences worldwide. The lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber immerse the audience in the life of Jesus of Nazareth in a highly emotional way.

Classics for Easter

For the first time, Lukas Perman presented himself as producer at Easter with the classic Jesus Christ Superstar. In the Stadthalle, which was sold out to the last seat, this cult rock opera by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber thrilled the audience, who thanked the stars on stage and the band under Christian Frank with a standing ovation.

The title role of this concert performance is played by Oedo Kuipers, who played the title character of “Mozart” in the musical of the same name and the role of “Chris” in “Miss Saigon” in over a hundred performances in Vienna. Mary Magdalene was portrayed by Marjan Shaki, Judas was played by Otto Jaus and Mark Seibert took on the role of Pontius Pilate. Georgij Makazaria and Vincent Bueno were also there.

Numerous guests

After the first performance, Missy May, Herbert Steinböck, Ramesh Nair, Werner Sobotka, Martin Grubinger and Christine Marek raised a glass to success.

There is still a performance on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.
