The U19 footballers of Olympiacos Piraeus have crowned themselves the youth kings of Europe. In the final of the Youth League in Nyon on Monday evening, the Greeks won 3-0 (0-0) against AC Milan. It is the first title ever won by a Greek team in European club football. Olympiacos beat Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals.

After a dominant but goalless first half, attacker Christos Mouzakitis opened the scoring with a hand penalty in the second half (60th). Just seconds later, Antonis Papakanellos made it 2-0 from a tight angle (61′). The decision resulted in a top-class goal: After a cross, Theofanis Bakoulas went up for an overhead kick and sank the ball unstoppably (66′).

Olympiakos’ professionals are also fighting for a European trophy. They face Aston Villa in the semi-finals of the Conference League (May 2/9).
