Pope Francis sent a message to Queen Elizabeth to congratulate her on her 70th and 96th birthdays. The Pope said prayers for prosperity and peace for her and her country.
(Vatican News Network) As Queen Elizabeth II publicly celebrates the 70th anniversary of her succession to the throne and her 96th birthday, Pope Francis called to express his congratulations. The Pope expressed his concern for the Queen through prayer, asking “God Almighty to bless you, the royal family and all the people with unity, prosperity and peace”.
The Pope already congratulated the Queen in a letter to Buckingham Palace on March 29, praising the Queen for her “continuous service” “for the good of the nation, for the advancement of the people, and for the preservation of a remarkable spiritual, cultural and political heritage”. As a sign of special recognition for the Queen’s efforts to care for creation, the Pope mentioned in the letter that a “Lebanese cedar” was presented to Queen Elizabeth in connection with the Queen’s Canopy Initiative.
“May this cedar tree, a biblical symbol of fortitude, justice and prosperity, be the guarantee of God’s abundant blessings for her kingdom,” the Pope wrote at the end of the message.
