During Pope Francis’ visit to Slovakia, there was a delightful episode. After presiding over the sacred ceremonies of the Byzantine rites, he stopped at the Jesuit House of God’s Ability to greet the friars and kitchen staff.
(Vatican News NetworkAt noon on September 14, after presiding over the sacred Byzantine ceremony in Prešov, Slovakia, Pope Francis went to the monastery in Kosice for lunch. On the way, the Pope stopped for a while at the Jesuit House of Spiritual Action to greet several fellow members who were too busy preparing for the celebration and were unable to attend the sacred ceremony. This is a delightful episode outside of the Pope’s visit.
It was particularly touching that the Pope accepted the invitation of Father Jan Benkovsky, the dean of the House of Gods, and came to the kitchen to personally greet the staff who prepared lunch for the bishops participating in the ceremony. The Pope gladly accepted the invitation and talked with the chefs and friars present in front of the bowls and stainless steel carts with sauces, and there was a stove next to it. Before leaving, the Pope blessed them.
