Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced that he has put himself in self-isolation from Covid. The Kremlin confirms this, explaining that there have been cases of coronavirus in its entourage. Putin, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed, is “absolutely healthy”.
Due to this decision, the Russian president will remotely attend a session of the CSTO Collective Security Council, a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and a joint meeting of the heads of member states of the CSTO and SCO, which are scheduled for this week in Dushanbe.
No further details on the duration of the quarantine are currently provided. The Russian president got his Sputnik vaccine last spring.
