“In fact, I’ve gotten into the habit of actually entering a world like that. There’s a threshold inside that I go over and then I think as Tina,” says the actress. “After so many years, it’s easy to think like Tina because I know her very well now. Close relationship with father, the puppeteer

When Katja Frenzel remembers her childhood with her father, two hearts beat in her chest. On the one hand, there was the father, who imaginatively created new worlds with his dolls and received a lot of attention for it. On the other hand, she experienced a father who changed when he drank alcohol: “My father then became a toddler. It was always the case that we had to look after him because he was no longer able to look after us . He then locked himself in his room or cried because he was sad. It was so emotional, incredibly exhausting for us.”

Today her father lives in a nursing home for people suffering from dementia. “At the end of the day, what’s left is a person who only exists in the moment. That was the point for me to say, well, then I’ll go into this moment and just give him the love that I have for him in this moment have.”

Came into contact with acting at an early age

Katja Frenzel’s mother, Bärbel Röhl, is one of the most famous actresses in the GDR theater sky. As a daughter, she experiences the world of the stage as fascinating: “They put on fantastic productions, for example, the Antique Evenings, where five plays ran in parallel and you could choose which play you wanted to go to – and stood in front of the theater a huge Trojan horse. Not to forget the Faust production, which was legendary.” Despite this influence, she did not want to become an actress. But things turned out differently. She became pregnant early and had to support herself and her child. An offer from television made this possible. After 13 episodes on the ZDF series “Gynecologist Dr. Markus Merthin” it was temporarily over – training to become a seamstress followed.
