Red Sea: French ship fires and shoots down three Houthi missiles

The operation within the European Aspides mission to defend merchant ships

A French ship that is part of the European Aspides mission, led by Italy, shot down three Houthi missiles that were endangering merchant ships in the southern Red Sea. A German Navy frigate also “repelled an attack” carried out “this morning” by a drone against a “civilian towed convoy” in the Red Sea. The Aspides operation aims precisely to repel and dissuade attacks by Houthi militiamen against merchant traffic on the strategic route of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, through the Strait of Bab el Mandeb.
