Regime banishes kidnapped priests to Rome, including Monsignor Rolando Álvarez

15 priests and 3 seminarians that have been kidnapped by the Nicaraguan regime, have finally been released and sent to Rome as confirmed by ecclesiastical sources. Additionally, exiled father Uriel Vallejos has stated that the Ortega-Murillos have a desire to try and leave Nicaragua without priests, which he is opposing. The priests were on a flight from Managua to the Maiquetía International Airport in Venezuela and the regime has not provided an official communication about the exile.

Among the priests released is Bishop Rolando Álvarez Lagos, who was kidnapped for over 500 days, and Monsignor Isidoro Mora, bishop of Siuna. Unfortunately, more than 100 political prisoners are still being held in the Nicaraguan prisons, their fundamental rights are being violated daily. The crisis is ongoing and news updates will be published as they come.
