– All of Manchester United are looking forward to returning to Norway in what will be the opening game in the pre-season to the 2024/25 season. We have a huge fan base in Norway, and look forward to both meeting them again and building on the strong relationship between us, says United’s sporting director John Murtough to RBK.no

The match will be played on 15 July.

The match will be part of the season run-up for the English big club.

– We are a club with ambitions to compete nationally as well as internationally. It is therefore a nice and educational opportunity for our players to test themselves against international opposition, says Rosenborg coach Alfred Johansson to their own websites.

– Great fun

– It is great fun that United is coming to Norway once more.

That’s what editor in charge at United.no, Dag Langerød, says.

– We did not expect this. But that they come again and again to Norway, and now to Trondheim, it will be great fun.

He is also excited about which players will come to Trondheim.

– Most of the stars will probably not be there in view of the European Championship which will be played this summer. Then it will probably be Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Jadon Sancho, but not Bruno Fernandes. There will be a mix and possibly new players.

Dissatisfied

But not everyone is happy about the visit from the giant. Supporter groupings Ultras Nidaros and FN13 are not satisfied.

– It is sad to see that the reality today is that we are downgraded to having to invite one of the leading representatives of modern football into our own living room for them to show off. In a global football world, this is the team we are fighting against for attention and the cultivation of local belonging and culture.

General manager Tore Bjørseth Berdal tells Adresseavisen that he has spoken to the supporters.

– We have respect for that, and so it is that we believe this is right for the club. There is both a sporting and financial benefit here which is good, he adds Adressa.no.
