Independiente Santa Fe and Patriotas de Boyacá faced each other at the El Campín stadium, in a vital commitment for both teams where both would go out to seek the three points and establish themselves in the standings.
Prior to this match, the cardinal team had just lost 3-1 against Millonarios in the capital classic. While those led by Harold Rivera obtained an important victory against Junior in the city of Tunja.
At the start of the first half, the Cardinal team reached two minutes, when Julián Millán had a clear chance to open the scoring, after he headed a cross that passed near the top post.
Pablo Peirano’s team remained firm in seeking the goal early, however, that goal did not reach the 25th minute when Jersson González had a clear opportunity to put Santa Fe ahead.
After rowing and rowing, the chance came for Independiente Santa Fe to get on top of the scoreboard 44 minutes into the first half. Now Santa Fe will rest next week, since it brought forward its match on date 15 against Millonarios, and now its next rival will be Atlético Nacional on date 16. While on the visitors’ side, they will play against Alianza FC as a home team.
