The Saudi king, 86-year-old Salman bin Abdulaziz, was hospitalized in a hospital in the Saudi city of Jeddah to undergo “medical checks”. This was announced by the official Saudi agency, relaunching a statement from the Court that does not add further details on the state of health of the elderly monarch or on the nature of the examinations he underwent. According to Reuters, the king would have undergone a colonoscopy after which the doctors advised a few days of hospitalization and observation in the hospital.
It is the second time that King Salman has been hospitalized since March, when he entered a hospital in Riyadh where his pacemaker battery was “successfully” changed.
Salman bin Abdulaziz took the throne in early 2015, following the death of his brother, 90-year-old Abdullah; but in fact the Wahhabi kingdom is led by his son, the crown prince Mohammed bin Salman.
