Scholz flies to Rome to meet Draghi: the German mediation on the Stability Pact

Olaf Scholz did not wait for the new year to meet Mario Draghi: he will see him next Monday in Rome. The German Chancellor and his Italian counterpart will meet immediately after Scholz’s two “obligatory” stages to their historic partner, France, and, in a moment of tremendous tensions with Russia, Belarus and Poland. On the table of the meeting with Draghi there will be the pandemic emergency, the imminent German presidency of the G7 but also a crucial issue such as the Stability Pact.
