Senegal, 15 dead in protests over the conviction of the opposition leader

The death toll in the protests in Senegal, which began on Thursday 1 June, rises to 15. Among the victims there are also two security agents. For the Ministry of the Interior it is “gratuitous violence”. If the demonstrations had “remained peaceful there would have been no problem”.

But protesters argue that the conviction of Ousmane Sonkoopposition leader accused of “juvenile corruption”, is politically motivated.
