Salvation shot of Cagliari on the twentieth matchday of Serie A: at the Unipol Domus, the Sardinians comeback to beat 2-1 Bologna. Orsolini takes the lead Thiago Motta al 24′, ma Petagna equalized after 7 minutes and, halfway through the second half, the own goal decided Calafiori (69′). The training of Ranieri returns out of the relegation zone and sends Verona back to -1, while the Bolognese slip in sixth place waiting for Atalanta and Roma.
THE MATCH
An almost entirely constructed safety race
at the Unipol Domus: Cagliari wins again at home and, this time, beats Bologna 2-1, in the third round without success. Yet, the guests take the lead in the 24th minute: Posch’s throw, Orsolini controls (with the ball remaining on the pitch for a matter of centimeters) and in the small area, from a very tight angle, he hits
Scuffet with a touch underneath. Bologna’s advantage, however, lasted just 7 minutes
Petagna he escapes on the edge of offside, skips Skorupski and deposits it into the empty net to make it 1-1 for the Sardinians.
In the second half, Ranieri starts again with Azzi replacing Augello, who is in clear difficulty over Orsolini. Halfway through the second half, here is the goal that decides the match: following a corner kick, Wieteska’s cross is involuntarily deflected into the goal by
Calafiori, who scores an unfortunate own goal. Just before the 2-1, Motta brought on Fabbian who then challenged Scuffet late on and also threatened twice with a header. Recovery full of apprehension, but at the final whistle there is Sardinian jubilation: Cagliari rises to 18 points and responds to Verona’s blow, while Bologna still remains without success. Also considering the Italian Cup, there are four matches without a win. Waiting for
Atalanta and Rome, Motta is sixth, but could also slip out of the Europe zone in this point-to-point battle with many teams as protagonists.
