Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan has again been entrusted with additional duties from President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). This year, even though it has only been running for two months, there have been three additional tasks given to Luhut.
So, what are the new additional tasks given to Luhut? Here is the list:
1. Chair of the Game Industry Development Steering Team
Most recently, Luhut was assigned to be Chair of the Steering Team for the Acceleration of Development of the National Games Industry. This decision is contained in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 19 of 2024 concerning the Acceleration of Development of the National Games Industry, which Jokowi signed on February 12 2024.

As chief director, Luhut himself was given the task of forming a working group as needed by involving stakeholders.
The National Games Industry Development Acceleration Team was formed to coordinate and synchronize, direct steps and policies to resolve problems and obstacles and develop comprehensive strategies and implementation of public communications, carry out monitoring and evaluation, and provide recommendations regarding changes to the National Games Industry Development Acceleration Program.
The Director has the task of providing direction, suggestions and considerations for the National Games Industry Development Acceleration Program. The results must be reported periodically to the President.
2. Government Digital Systems Coordinator
The first task is related to Presidential Regulation Number 82 of 2023 concerning the Acceleration of Digital Transformation and Integration of National Digital Services. Through this Presidential Decree, the government wants to establish a Public Service Super Application.
So, Luhut was asked to lead the team that coordinates ministries and institutions to enter the digital system. The target is that this program can be completed in July or August 2024.
This new task was announced by Luhut himself. This was his first additional assignment after recovering from illness.
“So the president asked me to coordinate K/L to immediately enter this system. We hope that by July or August 2024 it will be completed,” said Luhut in a video caption on his official Instagram account, @luhut.pandjaitan in early January 2024.
His party and the PAN-RB Ministry have also been working and coordinating. He said the government would also use Peruri as its application manager. Peruri will also be restructured so that it can manage digital applications.
3. Head of the NPP Development Team
Luhut also received a new assignment as chairman of the Team for the Acceleration of Development of Nuclear Power Plants (PLTN) or the Nuclear Energy Program Implementing Organization (NEPIO). This was announced by the Secretary General of the National Energy Council (DEN) Djoko Siswanto.
He revealed that his party had completed the draft structure of the NEPIO team. In this structure, the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries will act as team leader. As is known, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan is the current Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.
He said that his party had sent a letter to the Chairman of DEN, in this case President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and the Deputy Chairman of DEN, namely Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, to ask for direction regarding the formation of NEPIO and nuclear development.
In the composition of the NEPIO management, the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries will be the Team Leader and the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources will be the Daily Chair.
“There the chairman is the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, the daily chairman of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources,” he said.
