Dominik Peter will not return to the Ski Jumping World Cup after a one-year break from competition.

Last October, Dominik Peter announced via Swiss-Ski that he would not be taking part in any competitions in the 2023/24 season and would be taking a break from top-level sport for health and mental reasons.
Now it is clear: there will be no return to the ski jumps. The Zurich Oberlander explained to the that he no longer wanted to expose himself to the constant pressure to reach his ideal weight as a ski jumper Blick.
“Achieving this was a huge struggle,” says the bronze medalist from the 2021 Junior World Championships. “I went to bed hungry for years.”
A top 10 place
The problem is not new. Many ski jumpers are hungry for success. The world association FIS responded in 2004 by introducing the body mass index rule. Since then, jumpers have had to reach a minimum BMI value in order to be able to compete with the maximum ski length.
Peter, now 22, played his last competition on April 2, 2023 at the World Championships in Planica. In the World Cup he made it into the top ten once.
