Slovenia has legalized same-sex marriage, together with the adoption of children by same-sex couples. This is what the Constitutional Court in Ljubljana ruled on Friday, which with a verdict defined the rules so far in force in terms of heterosexual and homosexual unions as discriminatory.
In fact, it has been established – regional media reports – that a conjugal union is that between two people regardless of sex, and that two same-sex partners living in a conjugal union can adopt children under the same conditions as heterosexual couples. The High Court – which ruled on two separate appeals – gave the legislator six months to implement the new law and eliminate discrimination in this regard.
