– I hate being imposed on “combat issues” that I really don’t have, for so it doesn’t mean much to me, says Sophie Elise on her own Snapchat account on Wednesday evening.

On Monday, the influencer shared with her 613,000 followers on Instagram that she plans to eat her placenta after giving birth.

The influencer did not elaborate on why or how she wanted to do it, but several media mentioned the matter.

TV 2 have spoken to the gynecologist at Aleris, Caroline Becker, who says that there are no studies documenting the health effects of eating the placenta, and that there are no recommendations from the health authorities that encourage its consumption.

– Not set in stone

Sophie Elise says she thought that eating her own placenta could be something for her – and that she wanted to check the possibilities of getting it done, after reading a lot about it.

– I know there is no clinically documented effect on it, but I also think placebo can be worth a lot – at least for me. If it can make me feel good, then maybe. It’s not set in stone, maybe, maybe not. It’s something I want to do.

– If for some reason it’s not good for me or the baby, then of course it won’t happen.

VG has been in contact with Sophie Elise, who says that she does not want to elaborate on anything more than what she has done on Snapchat.

Capsules

Sophie Elise is not the only one who has had a desire to eat her placenta. Triana Iglesias had her placenta converted into capsules that she took every day for two months after giving birth in 2020.

Sophie Elise says she also has plans to turn the placenta into capsules as a dietary supplement.

– “Worst case” it doesn’t work, she says.

Several other celebrities have also eaten their placenta, including Chrissy Teigen, Kim Kardashian and Kourtney Kardashian Barker, according to People.

It was in November that Sophie Elise revealed that she is pregnant. She and her boyfriend Vegard Jørstad later shared that they are expecting a son in the spring.

– We are very much looking forward to. Having a son feels so exciting, right and nice, wrote Sophie Elise in a text message to VG.
