Joselu was installed as the sole striker in a 4-2-3-1 formation supported by Mikael Oryazabal, Gerard Moreno and Pablo Sarabia.

Despite playing dominantly, Spain had difficulty creating opportunities in front of the Colombian goal. Their attacks were more often raw against Colombia’s solid back line.

Entering the second half, Spain increased the intensity of their attacks. However, it was Colombia who broke the deadlock in the 61st minute through Daniel Munoz.

Starting from Luis Diaz who stabbed from the left side, the cross ball was given to the far post and Munoz, who was unmarked, welcomed it with a volley into the corner of Alex Remiro’s goal.
