Sporting and Benfica play the Lisbon derby this Saturday (6), at the Alvalade stadium, in a match valid for the 28th round of the Portuguese Championship. The game has the atmosphere of an early final, as it pits the leader and vice-leader of the competition face to face, separated by just one point. This will be the second straight match between the Lions and Eagles this season. In the middle of the week, the teams drew 2-2 in the second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Nicolás Otamendi and Rafa Silva scored for Benfica, while Morten Hjulmand and Paulinho equalized for Sporting. As the Alviverde team won the first game 2-1, Sporting will play in the Portuguese Cup final against the winner of Porto against Vitória de Guimarães.

If they win the classic, Benfica could just sleep at the top of the Portuguese Championship. This is because Sporting had its match against Famalicão postponed and, therefore, has one game less than its opponent.
