Today is the funeral of the legendary basketball player and coach Dejan Milojević at the New Bezanija cemetery. Family, friends and basketball legends say goodbye to him, and among those present is Steve Kerr. The Golden State coach, with whom Milojević won a championship ring in 2022, came from the United States to pay his respects to his colleague and great friend with whom he spent two wonderful seasons in the NBA. “He was a guy who always saw the good in people and he saw the purpose of life. How can you not love and accept that when you see it every day? That’s the person you want to be with every day.” said Kerr at an emotional press conference after the death of his closest associate.
“Heartbreaking. Devastating. This is the hardest thing I’ve ever been a part of in the NBA. It’s hard to describe this week of ours. We’ve lost someone so close to us. And more importantly, the hardest part is seeing his family suffer. This last week, the last five days, they were filled with shock, emotions, great outpourings of love… I don’t know if you saw the event in Serbia, the two teams he was in played, Mega, which he coached, and Partizan, the team in which he was a star . I don’t know that I’ve ever seen such a dedication before a game. We watched it as a team. We got a better picture of what Dejan meant to his countrymen. Of course, he meant a lot to us, Nataša, Maša and Nikola… This was devastating for us,” emotionally said Steve Kerr, who toasted with brandy after the first match without Milojević.
