Sandnes runner Nordås had to fight against, among other things, the entire Kenyan WC team from Budapest last year.
Timothy Cheruiyot and Reynold Cheruiyot followed in the back seats. The winning time for Komen was 3.32.43.
Nordås was a second behind before the last round and was unable to advance. The 25-year-old finished on a season’s best with 3.33.87.
– Here it was a long way to go. It is clear that Narve is coming into this with no training and little competition preparation, said NRK expert Vebjørn Rodal.
– In addition, tactically it was not particularly good, added Rodal.
The 1500 meters in Qatar was the first real test for Nordås this season. The EC and the Olympics are the two big goals for Nordås.
Nordås’ personal record is 3.29.47. The season’s best was 3.34.11 before Friday’s event in Doha.
Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Josh Kerr were among those who did not start.
