CCTV News On August 3, local time, according to Afghan Dawn News, the conflict between the Afghan government forces and the Taliban in the city of Rashkar Gah, the capital of Helmand Province in southern Afghanistan, has further intensified.

According to security sources, the Taliban have occupied 12 of the 13 districts of Helmand Province and 9 of the 10 districts of the provincial capital Rashkar Gah. According to the Afghan Ministry of National Defense, the front line is now located in District 1 of the city. The US military launched an air strike in District 1 on the morning of August 2, resulting in the deaths of 7 Taliban members. The Helmand Provincial Assembly revealed that the Taliban had surrounded the prison and police headquarters in the area.

According to sources, due to the intensification of the conflict in Lashkar Gah, all media in Helmand Province have stopped broadcasting programs. On the morning of August 2nd, the Taliban took over the office of the National Television Station in District 1 of Lashkar Gah.

Helmand Province was previously one of the main bases of the Taliban, and the United States and NATO coalition forces had a long-term confrontation with the Taliban in the province.
