The first full-size digital scan of the ship, made by taking 700,000 photos
This is the first full-size digital scan of the wreck of the Titanic. Created thanks to the mapping of the sea depths, it allows you to viewas if the water around it, at a depth of 3,800 meters, had been completely dried up.
To scan specialist company Magellan together with documentary filmmakers from Atlantic Productions: they were taken to make it 700 thousand photos from every angle. In addition to the size of the ship, the scan shows small details, such as the serial number of the propellers.
The bow it is still recognizable even 100 years after the shipwreck, the stern part, which collapsed while the boat was sinking, was almost completely destroyed. The wreck is surrounded by a lot of debris, including items from the ship such as shoes and bottles. Scholars hope this project will shed light on Titanic’s impact with the iceberg it caused the sinking of the ocean liner in 1912.
In tragedy more than 1,500 people died.
