It is the Danish club, where Norwegian Ola Brynhildsen also plays, that informs about Olsson’s condition.
The club writes that 28-year-old Olsson is affected by what is probably an “acute illness related to the brain”.
Olsson has had his family around him in addition to parts of the club’s medical team recently. He is now being treated by specialists in the area.
– A team of Denmark’s leading medical experts is currently working in high gear to make a diagnosis and implement the right treatment, Midtjylland writes in a press release.
– It is incredibly tough. He is a wonderful person and a very good friend. The only important thing now is that he recovers. Out of respect and understanding for Kris and his family, I cannot say more, says Ola Brynhildsen TV 2.

Disclosing information due to rumours
Midtjylland states that the information is coming out because of the rumors about Olsson’s absence recently, and that they are now asking the public to show respect and calm for Olsson, the family and the doctors.
– Everyone in Central Jutland is of course deeply affected by Kristoffer’s sudden illness, and our thoughts and full support go out to Kristoffer and his family.
Olsson is listed with 47 international matches for Sweden. He came on as a substitute in Sweden’s previous important match, when they won 2–0 at home against Estonia in the European Championship qualifiers.
He also played all of Sweden’s four games in the European Championship in 2021.
Olsson was at Arsenal as a youngster, where as an 18-year-old he was allowed to play one game in the league cup. He then continued his career in Midtjylland, where he became league champion in the 2014/15 season. Olsson went to AIK in 2017, then to Krasnodar in 2019 and then to Anderlecht in 2021.
He stayed there for one season, before he went on loan back to Midtjylland – a transfer that was made permanent last summer.

– A fantastic person
Teammate in Midtjylland, Joel Andersson, says The evening paper that the Midtjylland players were informed a few days ago.
When asked what the atmosphere in the squad is like, he replies:
– It is difficult. He is a wonderful human being. But we’ll see, says Andersson.
Muamer Tankovic, who has played with Olsson on the Swedish national team and, like Olsson, was born in 1995 and from Norrköping, was in tears when he was contacted by Aftonbladet.

AIK, where Olsson helped win the Allsvenskan in 2018, has taken to social media with words of support for Olsson.
