The United States has imposed sanctions against Iranian companies and individuals involved in the sale of “kamikaze drones”

The US Treasury Department on Thursday he imposed economic sanctions against a number of people and companies involved in the production and supply of drones by the Iranian Ministry of Defense. Among these is Sahara Thunder, which the Treasury Department considers “the main front company overseeing the commercial activities of the Iranian Ministry of Defense” with respect to the production and supply of drones abroad. Sahara Thunder is the company that, among other things, supplies Russia with Shahed 136 drones: they are the so-called “kamikaze drones” or “suicide drones”, which explode once the target is reached, which Russia makes extensive use of in war against Ukraine.

The Treasury Department said it had imposed sanctions against a dozen companies and individuals “who played a central role in facilitating and financing the clandestine sale of Iranian drones on behalf of Iran’s Defense Ministry.” He added that the United Kingdom and Canada are also imposing sanctions on several companies and individuals involved in supplying Iranian drones.
