January 8, 2024: A Day of Major Events in Mexico
January 8th, 2024 is a date that will be marked in the memory of many people, especially in Mexico, as it marks the return of approximately 24 million students to classes for the second part of the 2023-2024 cycle.
However, the return to classes is not the only significant event happening in Mexico on this day. The Mexican Space Agency is set to launch the ‘Colmena’ Project, the first Mexican space mission to the Moon, with the goal of sending five robots to assemble on the lunar surface.
In addition, the Assembly of Mexico City will vote on whether to ratify Ernestina Godoy as Attorney General of Justice for the city for the period 2024-2028. The Mexico City International Airport will also begin reducing its flights from 52 to 43 to optimize operations.
Notably, January 8th also marks 200 days until the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which are set to open on July 26th, and an astronomical event known as ‘the Kiss’, which involves the conjunction of the Moon with Venus and can be seen at night and early in the morning of this day.
It is clear that January 8, 2024 will be a day of significant events for Mexico.
