Glimt showed its muscles and won 5-0 against LSK in Åråsen on Sunday evening.

The loss is one of the rare for Lillestrøm.

This was LSK’s biggest home loss since they lost 0-5 against Rosenborg on 9 August 2015.

– It’s absolutely amazing, of course. When you’re being bullied, it’s no fun being a footballer. Those days will come, they too, says LSK stopper Ruben Gabrielsen to NRK after the match.

– Is it Glimt who are good or is it you who are below par today?

– Both parts, absolutely. We are under par and they are an extremely good football team. We get a lesson in football and efficiency, says Gabrielsen – before he concludes:

– No one wants to lose 0-5 and get pissed off.

Glimt thus leaves Åråsen with a full pot, nine out of nine possible points after three games in the Eliteserien and zero goals conceded.

For Lillestrøm, it looks a bit more gloomy. Under Andreas Georgson’s management, LSK have lost two out of two home games so far and stand with three points after the away win against Haugesund last time out.

1-0 came after just 11 minutes. Jostein Gundersen took advantage of a sleeping LSK defense and played a sensitive and long ball into the middle of the goal, where Nino Zugelj was waiting unmarked. The winger had few problems setting his sights and sending the visitors into the lead with a fine finish.

– I like to show that I can’t just defend myself, so it was nice, Gundersen said in the break interview with TV 2 about the beautiful goal-scoring pass.

The Lillestrøm defense should probably have done a better job leading up to the goal, but Glimt thanked and bowed.

The yellow jerseys got more and more involved in the game over time, and created both two and three relatively big chances. But when both Thomas Lehne Olsen and Ylldren Ibrahimaj abused the opportunities for the home team, it was 1-0 to the visitors when the teams went to the break.

– Kjetil was very, very unhappy with our first half. I completely agree with him. I think everyone realized for themselves that we had a lot more to do. Then it was just up to us to get it out in the second half and I think we responded well to that, says Glimt captain Patrick Berg to TV 2 after the match.

Knutsen explained what he had meant to NRK after the match:

– I am dissatisfied that we become passive under pressure. Then they actually play 3+1 against 1 player. We lie passively and wait and then we move, and when they play between us, they leave. Then we’re in a bit of trouble. We are far too vague in our free play.

– Do you feel that you will get an answer from the prosecution after the break?

– Yes, it was incredibly fun to watch. I think we can learn a lot from the bad periods in this game and I think we can learn a lot from the good periods in this game. That is what we do, to be good at learning. And you can learn from everything. There is an enormous amount to take in this match.

– A special moment

The second half was only nine minutes old when Glimt increased the lead. Eric Kitolano slopped the ball away, Patrick Berg took over and took five steps before slamming in 2-0 with a beautiful long shot from long range.

– Look at this here, it’s 35 metres. What a strike and what a hit. But a terrible mistake by Kitolano, summed up TV 2 commentator Simen Stamsø Møller.

Five minutes later it was the 22-year-old star player Albert Grønbæk’s turn to bid for himself. He hammered home 3-0 with a beautiful finish and thereby killed LSK’s hopes of points.

But Glimt did not give up there. The visitors punished LSK on a counterattack, and what a way they did it. With one and two touches, Jens Petter Hauge and Sondre Sørli played free – before the ball ended up with Håkon Evjen in front of the goal. He took his time and scored 4-0 in cash.

– I think we were all very, very angry. I was more disappointed than angry with my own performance and how we handled the first half. We decide to be a better version of ourselves in the second half, says Evjen to NRK.

In the 81st minute, Glimt increased to 5-0 when Kasper Høgh scored his first goal in the Glimt shirt.

That was also the end result.

– We are very pleased with the result. Then I feel that the Lillestrøm team with the identity they are building, I think it’s exciting. It will probably vary a little at the start, but when they get direction on it, I think it will be quite good, says Knutsen.

Now there is a week until the teams go out in the next match. Lillestrøm will face Sandefjord away on Sunday 21 April, while Glimt will play against Molde at Aspmyra on the same evening.
