The XXVIII edition of Torino Comics ended on Sunday 14 April: a huge party for 65,000 fans of comics, manga, cosplay games, video games and cinema, who crowded the pavilions of Lingotto Fiere for three days. A constant growth trend for the event which this year was dedicated to Techno-Fantasy, a genre that combines fantastic elements with the wonders of futuristic technology.
The official poster was created by Claudio Castellini, one of the most famous Italian designers in the world, who on Sunday received the Pietro Miccia D’oro, statuette of the event’s mascot, from Torino Comics as a sign of recognition and thanks.
Full pavilions and stages constantly animated by the busy calendar of events, concerts and contests. The appointments with many of the guests present in Turin were very crowded: from Silver, who together with Poste Italiane celebrated the 50th anniversary of Lupo Alberto with a special philatelic postmark and a dedicated folder, to Carlo Lucarelli, who on Saturday presented the graphic novel Julian, created together with Stefano Fantelli, Marcello Mangiantini and Letizia Castagna. Great attendance at the stands of the authors who dedicated drawings and sketches to the fans for three days: from Mirka Andolfo to Corrado Mastantuono, from Emmanuele Baccinelli to Rodolfo Torti, from Alessandro Bocci to Davide Barzi. Thousands of fans of all ages sang and danced to the theme songs of the cartoons with Cristina D’Avena and Giorgio Vanni.
Hundreds of people attended the two events on the main stage with the actor Peter Gadiot, who plays the character of Shanks in the One Piece TV series. The actor then met the public in two meet&greets, signing dozens and dozens of autographs and taking photos with fans who had arrived specially from all over Italy.
Onda Sonora was born at Torino Comics 2024, the award dedicated to the best dubbing of video games. The award, promoted in collaboration with Voci Animate and Videogiochitalia.it, was created with the aim of enhancing the art and complexity of videogame dubbing. The award for best male dubbing went to Manuel Meli, while Ilaria Silverstri won the award for best female dubbing, best dubbing direction to Leonardo Gajo; public award to Arianna Craviotto, special Torino Comics award to Stefano Lucchelli.
Inclusion and accessibility are the founding values of Torino Comics: this year the partnership with the Consulta for people in difficulty was renewed, which in its space proposed numerous experiential activities and games dedicated to disability and inclusion; CPD also premiered Virtual Disability Experience at Lingotto, the first virtual reality game to put you in the shoes of a disabled person in a wheelchair.
A confirmed success for the Red Zone, the area dedicated to erotic comics, reserved for an adult audience. Inside the area, visitors admired the exhibitions dedicated to erotic comics by Italian and international authors and were able to meet the numerous authors present: Pedro Perez, Fumettibrutti, Ester Cardella, Krisfits, William Bondi, Marco Bianchini, Fabrizio Pasini and Andrea Bulgarelli.
The Cult-Cars&Movies exhibition, dedicated to iconic cars linked to the world of cinema, comics and TV series, was highly appreciated: the public was able to admire symbolic cars such as Lupin’s 500, Diabolik’s Jaguar, the Jeep from Jurassic Park, the legendary Kitt from Supercar or the Mini from the Italian Job. The exhibition will be open again from 19 to 21 April again at Lingotto Fiere on the occasion of the AMTS-Auto Moto Turin Show event.
Two international Cosplay competitions hosted in Turin: on Saturday 13 April the competition included in the ICL – International Cosplay League circuit saw the triumph of the couple made up of Carlo and Elena, who played the characters from Final Fantasy 14; in the singles category, first place was won by Elisa, who played Alice from the video game Madness Returns. The winners will represent Italy at the world finals in Madrid, as part of the Japan Weekend. On Sunday 16th April the classic competitive fashion show took place, which rewards the “artisanal” ability of the competitor, his ability to identify with the chosen role and his interpretative and sympathetic skills, in a challenge to the last dress for the awarding of prizes. The Italian selections for the Europa Cosplay Cup also took place within the competition, the finals of which will take place in November in Toulouse, France, on the occasion of the Toulouse Game Show event: first place was won by Kat Von Rouge who she played the character of Merida from Disney Doll Limited edition. The special Torino Comics Super Prize went to Laura Stefan who played the role of Berserk.
The next events for fans of comics, cosplay, cinema, games and video games are December 14th and 15th with the tenth edition of an event organized by Just for fun in joint venture with GL events Italia.
