Toxic cat in Japan. What was the accident like and why is it dangerous?

A cat fell into a tank with chemicals at the Nomura Plating Factory in Fukuyama, Hiroshima, Japan, triggering an alert in the city. Cameras captured the cat escaping the tank and leaving toxic footprints behind. The substance in the tank, hexavalent chromium, is carcinogenic and can cause skin inflammation. Authorities issued a warning not to approach or touch the missing cat, as the chemical can have harmful effects on health. Despite efforts to locate the cat, it has not been found and is believed to be dead. Residents are urged to be on the lookout for any cats displaying unusual behavior. The incident has prompted the factory to take measures to prevent animals from entering the premises in the future.
