ROMA – The Tunisian president Kais Saied, a professor of constitutional law, was elected head of state by popular vote in the autumn of 2019. He launched a “populist” electoral campaign, conducted against traditional parties: in the second round he was voted by 70% of the voters. Saied has just closed a state visit to Italy: he spent two days in Rome, saw Mattarella, Draghi and the most important ministers of the government.
