Ukraine launched a massive drone attack against ten Russian regions and two oil refineries caught fire

Ukraine launched a massive drone attack against ten Russian regions on the eve of the presidential elections in Russia. The attack resulted in fires at fuel depots and incursions by Russian volunteer units fighting in the ranks of the Ukrainian Army.

More than two dozen drones were launched at Russia overnight, with fires breaking out at fuel depots in two towns located hundreds of kilometers from the border. The Russian Defense Ministry reported that 25 drones were destroyed, with some reaching deep into Russian territory.

The drone attacks caused significant damage, with fuel depots in Oryol and Kstovo being targeted, resulting in fires that required special services to contain. Thankfully, there were no reported casualties from the attacks.

The rain of drones continued throughout the day, with damage reported to buildings and power outages in border regions. This attack is one of the largest against Russian territory by Ukraine and comes ahead of the upcoming presidential elections in Russia.

In addition to the drone attacks, Russian territory also saw incursions by Russian volunteer militias opposed to the Kremlin. Three militia groups announced an incursion into Russian territory, taking control of a town in Belgorod.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported that Russian troops repelled the attackers, causing casualties. Ukrainian military intelligence confirmed that these actions were carried out by militias independent of Kyiv’s control.

The Freedom Legion for Russia and the Russian Volunteer Corps, composed of Russian fighters opposed to President Vladimir Putin, are behind the incursions. This is not the first operation by these militias in Russia.
