The offensive against Severodonetsk puts the entire front line back in motion, with an intensity of fighting not seen for over a month. The city is becoming another hub of this war: conquering it would allow Putin to occupy almost all of the Ukrainian Donbass, obtaining a clear victory albeit far from the initial ambitions of the invasion. The Russian avant-gardes entered the periphery from two directions, but met with fierce resistance.
