Ulrikke Brandstorp: This is how the “Baking Championship” affected the wedding

It’s almost two years since Ulrikke Brandstorp (28) said “yes” when Oskar Nordberg (30) got down on one knee during a picnic.

In the meantime, she has had a seemingly hectic schedule with a musical lead role, participation in Melodi Grand Prix and “Skal vi danse”, as well as a Christmas tour.

Right now, she can be seen on NRK as presenter of the “Baking Championship”.

Productive Brandstorp has previously stated that wedding planning “is just a treat”.

At the beginning of June, she will be a bride in Spain – has everything gone smoothly?

Changed opinion

– I think we have control over most things, she replies to Good evening Norway.

A couple of weekends ago, the couple went to Barcelona to arrange the last details – like tasting the food that will be served.

– It’s good to double check a few things, because sometimes things get a bit “lost in translation”, haha.

But for many, it is perhaps surprising that the presenter of the baking program had no plans to serve cake.

– We had actually intended not to have a wedding cake, she reveals, and continues:

– Before the “Baking Championship”, I didn’t think that the cake was that important.

The presenter says that the TV time led to quite a few questions about the wedding cake.

– After the programme, I have also realized how important and unifying baking is! After all, there are traditions, memories and feelings connected to it.

So the couple went on a tasting in Spain, and were “sold”.

– Now we are really looking forward to gathering the guests around our wedding cake. I hope the flavors in the cake will remind the guests of the wedding weekend for the rest of their lives.

But there will be a small tradition dispute.

– We will serve it before dinner, and it will contain a little surprise!

The reason why the dessert comes first is so as not to interrupt the party, says the bride-to-be.

– In most of the weddings I have been to in the past, the cake has been served quite late. Plus you are often so full after dinner. I think it will be a great solution.

– Was quite sweaty

A destination wedding requires a lot of logistics, and a point of concern for Brandstorp has been how she will transport the wedding dresses.

The artist has chosen two wedding dresses, one of which will be worn the night before. – I “benefit” from and will hopefully get married only once, she comments in an Instagram video. Photo: Private

– They won’t fit in hand luggage, and I certainly won’t send them in a suitcase. Typically, they just disappear into thin air.

She considered buying a separate seat on the plane for the dresses, but dropped the extra cost when her in-laws came to the rescue.

– I have the world‘s kindest parents-in-law who actually drive the campervan down to Spain with the dresses. Best wedding present they could have given me, she comments.

She has no idea what the groom will go with.

– He told me that there were bright red details on the suit, and then I have to admit that I got quite sweaty.

– Fortunately, this was just nonsense. I’m sure that Oskar will be super nice, and it’s a bit exciting that I don’t know.

Maurstad as toastmaster

The 28-year-old keeps his cards close to his chest when it comes to appearances and features at the wedding.

– I can’t reveal whether I’m going to do anything special, she says and points out that her fiance can get the article.

In Spain, 160 guests will gather, and when asked if any famous faces have important roles, she replies:

– It may well be that there are not only close family members in that group. We feel we have been the luckiest in the world with a toastmaster – then our good friend Scott Maurstad accepted – one of the funniest people we know, so it will be absolutely fantastic!
