Usa, shooting in a post office: he kills his colleagues and takes his own life

by admin

Tragedy in Memphis, Tennessee. Two post office employees, a man and a woman, died in a shoot-out in the workplace on Tuesday, fatally hit by several bullets. The assailant, a colleague, then took his own life, as reported by Lisa-Anne Culp, spokesman for the FBI office in Memphis at CNN.

The US postal inspector, Susan Link, said that the three post office workers had been found already dead and therefore there was no possibility of rescue. The crime scene, no longer active, was simply secured.

Investigations are still ongoing and authorities have not provided a motive for the shooting or revealed the identity of the victims. Waiting outside the facility, however, a woman identified one of the victims as her cousin, James Wilson. The woman, also a post office clerk in a different office, said hers is a “family of postal workers” and that Wilson had worked at the facility for several years, following in her mother’s footsteps.

A white Ford sedan was towed from the facility’s parking lot at around 3:40 pm, but it’s still unclear who it belongs to and whether it’s linked to the crime.

“Our thoughts are with the family, friends and colleagues of the people involved. The postal service will provide resources to all employees of the East Lamar Carrier Annex in the coming days and weeks ”is a message sent by the post office and quoted by USA Today.

This is the third major shooting to have occurred near the western Tennessee city in recent weeks. The latest event then took place at the East Lamar Carrier Annex, in an important neighborhood of Memphis.
