Vasco tries Paulo Pezzloano to replace Ramón Díaz
Disclosure / Valladolid + Daniel Ramalho / Vasco
Vasco already has a defined target to replace Ramón Díaz, who left Cruzmaltino after the 4-0 defeat to Criciúma, last Saturday (27), in São Januário, for the position of coach. Paulo Pezzolano, a 41-year-old Uruguayan coach, who was at Cruzeiro and now leads Real Valladolid, in Spain, is the star of the Rio team.
Pezzolano has a contract with Valladolid, another team owned by former striker Ronaldo, until June this year, but has already shown his willingness to return to Brazil due to the possible sale of the Spanish club by the Phenom. The Uruguayan coach stood out with the now former owner of Cruzeiro’s SAF in 2022, when he won the Brasileirão Series B title, but resigned after failures in the 2023 Campeonato Mineiro.
Before signing Pezzolano, however, Vasco has a problem to resolve with Ramón Díaz. The former Cruzmaltino coach understands that he was fired from the team and is demanding a termination fine of US$7.5 million (R$38.6 million). The amount refers to the end of the Argentine’s contract with the Rio team, which had renewed the contract of its then commander until December 2025. The discussion is led by businessman André Cury, who mediated Ramón’s arrival in São Januário.
