The Mariachi Mishap that Broke the Internet
A serenade for a birthday girl took an unexpected turn when one of the hired mariachis ended up in the pool. The incident, captured on video, has since gone viral on social media.
In the clip shared on the @ceciliaaviles07 account, a group of mariachis can be seen entering a party while singing ‘Las mañanitas’. However, as they waited for the rest of their companions to join in, one of them accidentally fell into the pool, much to the amusement of everyone present.
Rather than stopping the performance, the mariachis continued with their performance, with two women at the party – one of whom was celebrating her birthday – bursting into laughter.
The musician who fell into the pool was left to his own devices, with none of his fellow band members stopping to help him. Eventually, the last mariachi to enter the party, bouquet of roses in hand, went over to assist the drenched musician.
Since being shared on TikTok, the video has garnered over 22 million views, with a second video from the host’s perspective also gaining attention with over 360 thousand views.
Reactions to the video have been mixed, with some finding humor in the situation while others expressed concern for the drenched musician’s instrument. Comments such as “None of his colleagues came back to help him, he was probably the boss who paid little” and “I’m the boyfriend… I laugh my ass off and then I help him” highlight the range of responses.
The incident has certainly provided a good laugh, but it also serves as a reminder to be mindful of potential hazards, especially when performing as a mariachi near a pool.
