What role did Claudia Sheinbaum play in the Nobel Peace Prize that an intergovernmental panel won?

In 2007, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and American politician and environmentalist Albert “Al” Gore were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for their work on climate change, as reported by CNN Spanish. This panel consisted of more than 600 academics and researchers, including Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, who is currently a candidate for the ruling party for the presidency of Mexico.

The Nobel Foundation recognized the IPCC for their efforts to accumulate and disseminate knowledge about human-caused climate change, with the aim of implementing measures to counteract it. Sheinbaum, an expert in climate change with a background in Physics and Energy Engineering, was a contributing author to Task Force 3 of the IPCC, working on the report “Climate Change 2007, Climate Change Mitigation.”

However, it is important to note that the award was given to the IPCC as an organization, and not to any individual associated with it. The IPCC clarified that only the organization received the Nobel Peace Prize, and individual contributors like Sheinbaum did not receive a Nobel Prize diploma.

In the history of Mexico, only three individuals have been awarded the Nobel Prize: Alfonso García Robles in 1982, Octavio Paz in 1990, and José Marío Molina in 1995. It is important to accurately represent the recipients of prestigious awards like the Nobel Prize.
