“If the night of the middle of Sha’ban arrives, then worship during the night and fast during the day, because indeed Allah Ta’ala sends His mercy from the setting of the sun (Maghrib) in the sky of the world and says, ‘Whoever asks for forgiveness, I will forgive. Who ask for sustenance and I will give sustenance. Whoever is afflicted by misfortune I will heal. Whoever asks for this and that, until the dawn (sun) rises.” (HR. Ibnu Majah).

When is the Nisfu Shaban fast?
Quoted from the Ministry of Religion website, this Nisfu Syaban night is the night when 300 doors of mercy and forgiveness are opened by Allah SWT.
Quoting from the Nahdlatul Ulama website, literally, Nisfu Syaban means the middle day of the month of Shaban, namely the 15th of Shaban 1445 Hijriah. This means that Nisfu Syaban night falls on the 14th of Shaban evening.
If converted to the Gregorian calendar, Nisfu Syaban falls on Sunday, February 25 2024. Meanwhile, Nisfu Syaban night coincides with Saturday, February 24 2024, evening.

Nisfu Syaban fasting intention
Muslims are encouraged to recite the intention of fasting Nisfu Syaban at night. The intention is the same as the intention for other sunnah fasts in the month of Shaban.

Intention to fast half of Shaban at night
I intended to fast tomorrow in order to fulfill the Sunnah of Sha`ban for the sake of God Almighty.
Arab Latin: Nawaitu Shauma Ghadin ‘An Adâ’i Sunnah Sya’bana lillâhi ta’ala.
Meaning: “I intend to fast the sunnah of Sha’ban tomorrow because of Allah SWT.”
Fasting intention for half of Shaban during the day
For Muslims who don’t have time to recite their intentions at night, there is no need to worry. The reason is, a Muslim can recite the intention of fasting Nisfu Syaban during the day as long as he has not eaten, drank or done other things that break the fast since dawn.
Here is the pronunciation of Nisfu Syaban fasting intention that can be read during the day.
I intended to fast this day in order to fulfill the Sunnah of Sha`ban for the sake of God Almighty.
Arab Latin: Therefore, it is the Sunnah of the Hadzal Yaumi ‘Sya’bana lillâhi ta’âla.
Meaning: “I intend to fast the sunnah of Sha’ban today because of Allah SWT.”
Advantages of Fasting Nisfu Syaban
The same is the case with the Shaban fast, the priority of the Nisfu Shaban fast is to obtain the intercession of the Prophet SAW on the Day of Judgement. Sheikh Nawawi Al-Bantani said:
The twelfth is the fast of Sha`ban, because he, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, loved his fast. Whoever fasts will obtain his intercession, may God bless him and grant him peace on the Day of Resurrection.
Meaning: The twelfth sunnah fast is the Sha’ban fast, because of the love of Rasulullah SAW for it. Therefore, whoever masters it, he will receive his intercession on the Day of Judgment.
