President Trump was invited to Ukraine by Zelensky. Would he go? «I don’t know, it’s really a delicate question in the middle of a presidential election- Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s former lawyer when he was president in the White House, tells us. I don’t really know the answer, it’s beyond the knowledge I have. If he did I would certainly support him. I love Ukraine. I spent more time there than probably most Americans. I helped the city of Kharkiv plan their defense and I am so proud of them because they chased the Russians away. So if (Trump) wanted to go that would be great. But it’s a very delicate thing.”

The topic is sensitive because Trump was impeached for his pressure on President Zelensky to work with Giuliani and then-Journalist Secretary William Barr to find compromising information on Hunter Biden, who was a member of the board of directors of the Burisma company, and on Joe Biden before the 2020 election. FBI agents raided Giuliani’s Manhattan home and offices in April 2021 and seized computers and cellphones in an investigation examining whether he attempted to pressure Ukrainian officials , notably a senior prosecutor and former president Petro Poroshenko. The former New York mayor has denied committing any crime. In 2022 he was acquitted by the U.S. Attorney of the Southern District of New York of charges of plotting in Ukraine to seek evidence against Joe Biden and his son Hunter during Trump’s presidency. The former mayor remains one of Trump’s co-defendants in the Georgia trial for election interference in 2020.
