Wolves beat Sheffield 1-0 to further immerse their opponents

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Wolverhampton defeated guests Sheffield United to further bury their opponents at the bottom of the Premier League standings, Sunday.

Pablo Sarabia’s header in the 30th minute resulted in the only goal of the match played at the Molineux Stadium.

This result pushed Wolves to eighth place in the standings with 38 points, while Sheffield slumped further to bottom with 13 points, according to the official Premier League page.

After the goal was scored, two Sheffield players, namely Vinicius Souza and Jack Robinson, were involved in an argument and pushed each other.

The referee needs to carry out a VAR review before allowing both players to continue playing.

The dispute between the two was similar to the fight between two Newcastle United players, namely Lee Bowyer and Kieron Dyer, which resulted in both of them receiving red cards in 2005.

However, Sheffield showed extraordinary struggle in the second half to put pressure on Wolverhampton.

Chris Wilder’s troops almost equalized before the end of the match when Auston Trusty failed to touch James McAtee’s dangerous ball which rolled into the Wolves goalmouth.

However, their 19th defeat in 26 league matches means Sheffield is now eight points behind the safety zone, and has a big chance of returning to the Championship next season.

Wolves were also predicted to have a tough season after losing coach Julen Lopetegui just days before the 2023/2024 season started.

However, Wolverhampton coach Gary O’Neill is now a candidate for Best Coach in England when he has the opportunity to bring his team to appear in European competition next season.
