Tonight Napoli and Pomigliano will face each other in Cercola. A very delicate match, in which Biagio Seno’s Neapolitans are condemned to win or, at least, not to lose.
A possible defeat for the Italians would open a chasm between the two teams, considering the fact that the ‘panthers’ won the first leg match played in Torre del Greco.
Whatever happens, it seems plausible to argue that the relegation issue will be a two-way affair. The gap accumulated compared to the other teams in the ‘salvation pool’ is such that it would take a miracle to catch up with them.
Things are very simple, at the end of the day. One of the two will be directly relegated to Serie B and the other will compete in the play-off against very successful teams who will represent a significant threat to maintaining the top national division.
In a championship in which at the end of the ‘regular season’ everything now seems (almost) decided – the championship and the assignment of the three positions in the Champions League are little more than a formality given the gaps accumulated – the only duel that keeps alive a championship limited to in which only ten clubs participate, the one between Napoli and Pomigliano remains so as not to go directly to Serie B.
Not exactly the best life for the growth of the movement.
