NEW LIGURES. The triumph in the technical disciplines of the “Gran Prix Italia” as a door opener for entry into the Junior Alpine skiing team. For the Novese Lorenzo Bini, the season that went on file meant almost certain access to the national youth teams: there is no official status but it is easy for his name to appear in the list of those who are just a step below the champions who compete in the World Cup and the European Cup.
Difficult for the technicians to exclude an athlete capable of finishing second in the general of an event that follows the calendar of the CdM of the greats, with stops in the same places. Bini dominated the technical disciplines obtaining the first specialty place in special and giant slalom where many were his successes and his placements on the podium.
I don’t pay, the champion from Novi Ligure also achieved excellent results in Super G. The second place was obtained mathematically in Santa Caterina Valfurva where Bini (he will turn 19 on June 26) won the giant in his category at the end of a test head to head against Gianlorenzo Di Paolo and Corrado Barbera.
The icing on the cake was statand then 15th place in the Absolutes of specialties in Livigno, at the finish line he was the first among the babies on the track. A change of pace that comes from afar: «Last year I chose to anticipate the final exams just to focus directly on skiing and I think the choice was spot on – comments Lorenzo -. Without school commitments I was able to work for a whole year according to my sport. Now I am at a crucial junction ».
In addition to his opponents, Bini had to face several logistical problems. With the pandemic, in fact, many ski resorts have not opened and finding slopes has been a problem. Based in Sestriere, with the support of her parents, the blue promise spent a winter between cars, hotels and ski slopes with her mother Floriana almost acting as a “tour operator” in search of residences or hotels according to locations suitable for the type of training : from those on icy slopes to those on soft snow, passing through other qualities of the various slopes.
To express yourself at the highest levels, you need to take care of every single detail and the results have been seen: «I am waiting for the official call-up, if I were to become a junior national ski team, it would be an important leap – adds Bini -. Wearing blue would mean working in an ad hoc team with what follows. An enormous emotion for me who am not a “mountaineer” but I must say that this condition was not made to weigh on me: on the track we are all the same. Not being resident in the Alps affects logistics and that’s it ».
Also because the blue skiers born far from the Alps have always been few: among the last, two Olympic slalom champions, Giuliano Razzoli and a certain Alberto Tomba.
