Leslie Van Houten, the angel of death who followed Charles Manson in the satanic murders that terrorized the United States in the 60s, has left prison after 53 years.
The 73-year-old woman, who sowed panic and horror with her cult and who is the image of the Evil that terrorized Hollywood, is out of prison after California Governor Gavin Newsom withdrew to appeal the decision of a court of ‘ state appeal to grant her probation. She was 19 Leslie Van Houten when, on the orders of the head of the Manson sect, she stabbed Leno and Rosemary LaBianca, who ran a supermarket: they were kidnapped and massacred in their Californian home in Los Feliz. It was August of ’69. In all, along with her other adepts, she stabbed the woman forty-one times. The word “War” was engraved on her husband’s belly.
The massacre of Cielo Drive
It was the second massacre in less than twenty-four hours in the rich areas of Los Angeles. A few hours earlier, Manson’s adepts had carried out the Cielo Drive massacre. There had been a party hosted by young actress Sharon Tate, 26, recently married to director Roman Polanski. 22-caliber revolvers, kitchen knives and a nylon rope, they killed the actress, eight and a half months pregnant, along with three friends and an 18-year-old boy while Polanski was in London.
