That men are at a greater risk of complications and death from Covid-19 is a fact. The reasons for this difference with the female sex, however, are not yet fully clear. One of the reasons may lie in the testosterone. But beware of easy interpretations. If several studies have indicated the presence of the male hormone a risk factor for Covid-19, a study just published by the journal Jama Network Open concluded that among men who are most at risk of becoming seriously ill are those with low blood testosterone levels.
