Injuries e mistreatment in family. These are the offenses against Luigi Sofo, 66, medico abdominal surgery expert, who assisted Professor Sergio Alfieri during the colon surgery to which Pope Francis underwent on 4 July 2021. According to breaking latest news reports, the well-known professional is also accused of informed unauthorized access since it would have entered the e-mail of the mate bypassing security systems.
The accusation
“You are a nullity“. It’s still: “You are a social zero“. They would be some of the insults addressed by Luigi Sofo to his partner with whom he would have lived for about 10 years. The two met back in 2007, during the woman’s hospitalization at the Gemelli Polyclinic. For the first time, the relationship seemed to be going well. Then the attitude of the well-known professional would have changed to the point of leading, according to the accusation, into violent actions and repeated offenses. Among the episodes in the proceedings for injuries and ill-treatment there are two of particular relevance. The first dates back to 2017: during the Christmas lunch, the 66-year-old’s companion would accidentally drop a serving plate from the Sofo family. The doctor, overcome by her anger, would have attacked her with two slaps in the face of her. In another circumstance, crystallized on the date of May 5, the couple would have argued again about participating in a charity event. According to the prosecutor, the doctor would have bitten her partner on the back only to take off one of her shoes and hit her in the head. Following that circumstance, the woman reported him but later she tried to recover the relationship. In November 2018, the situation would have become unrecoverable until the final break.
