The pomegranate is one of the many exotic fruits that we can find on the market. It belongs to the 6th and 7th group of foods with the highest amount of vitamins A and C. It is also rich in water, fiber, minerals and antioxidants. In fact, many beneficial properties are attributed to pomegranate precisely because it is an excellent antioxidant. The pomegranate (or pomegranates) is eaten mainly raw. Among the many benefits that this fruit has, its role has been studied a lot in helping to possibly counter the onset of some cancers, especially prostate cancer. Pomegranate juice has been found to slow down the growth of cancer cells. Prostate cancer accounts for 20% of cancers diagnosed among men. Some studies have shown that by administering 200 ml of pomegranate juice a day, you could reduce the risk of contracting this tumor.
This beneficial action is allowed by the presence of polyphenols. Among these we find luteolin, ellagic acid and punicic acid, which would reduce the possible formation of metastases. These molecules prevent DNA damage by carrying out an anti-inflammatory action.
Other benefits
At a cardiological level, if taken on a regular basis, it would have an anticoagulant action and would reduce bad cholesterol (LDL) favoring the increase in good cholesterol (HDL). By reducing blood clots, it would make circulation more fluid. The presence of antioxidants among its nutrients causes it to counteract cellular aging and could reduce age spots and wrinkles. In fact it is also used in the cosmetic field for the creation of face masks or body creams.
