Clash between the League and the president of the Lavevaz Region in the Regional Council

The Bolzano senator Gianclaudio Bressa is the third representative of the Aosta Valley within the Joint State – Region Commission. Politically born in the DC and raised in the Democratic Party, current member of the group in the Senate for Autonomies and undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, he works alongside his colleague Albert Lanièce and Professor Barbara Randazzo.

Bressa replaces Giovanni Maria Flick who sensationally renounced the joint appointment immediately due to the non-unanimous consent expressed towards him by the Aosta Valley assembly.

The senator of the Autonomies today obtained twenty votes, one more than Flick last 9 June.

Clash between Lega and Lavevaz on appointments

If a fortnight ago in the Valle Council the point of the appointments of the regional part in the Joint Commission was voted without any discussion, today on the contrary the opposition clashed with the president of the Region Erik Lavevaz.

Central point of the debate: the methods of communicating the name of Bressa to the political forces present in the classroom.

The leader of the Lega Valle d’Aosta group Andrea Manfrin expressed “amazement” at the indication received from the regional government. «Several times in the Group Leaders Conference we have asked for a discussion and the urgency of arriving at the appointment of the Joint Commission. In the face of this – underlined the League leader – there has always been an assertive and interlocutory response from the president of the Region until, last time, the announcement of the three candidates (Flick, Lanièce and Randazzo, ed) without any kind of sharing. President Lavevaz made a big slip. Today we arrive in the classroom with even less sharing methods than last time, given that we learned of Bressa’s candidacy from the news ».

The response of the President of the Region: «I too am amazed. A fortnight ago when I proposed the three candidates to the Conference of the group leaders, no one said a word ». For this reason, “yesterday (at the Group Leaders Conference, ed) I did not consider it useful to present the name of our candidate in the group leader since there had been no discussion on the three names either in the Group Leader or in the Council”.

Lavevaz also replied to the statements of the Northern League player Erik Lavy on the UV that represents a “point of support for national parties”. «I reassure my colleague Lavy: Union Valdôtaine is not a point of support for national movements and it is surprising that this type of declaration comes from him, a member of a national party that holds meetings in via Bellerio. We do them in avenue des Maquisards and we consider ourselves Valdostani ».

The “ideological problem”

The League also posed “an ideological problem” on the figures chosen as representatives of the Autonomous Region of Valle d’Aosta. “Nothing to say about the curricula, which is of great importance, but we are talking about the regional commissioners and is it correct to choose a representative of the Constitutional Court?” Asked the Lega Spelgatti referring to Flick. «The regional representatives must have held state positions? In my opinion, no ».

According to President Lavevaz, however, that of Senator Bressa is the right figure. «He was a member of joint commissions, in particular in the Autonomous Province of Trento, dealing with implementation regulations relating to hydroelectricity and other topics that are of absolute topicality and interest also for the Valle d’Aosta. We believe that he is the most suitable personality to carry out the initiatives on which our Commission will have to work in the coming months and years. “
